Northern girls. Proud, tough, unique and not what you'd expect. Gaining their perspective and hearing their voices through four aspiring female writers. A small town like Scarborough can often lead to little opportunity, this work focuses on 4 female writers, working with Arcade and Pilot theatre to produce 4 original works from the perspective of a Northern Girl.
Mentored by professional writer and playwright Hannah Davies, the group went through the process of creating four original pieces that would later be performed by a group of talented Northern actresses along with original pieces by 4 professional female writers. Northern girls and signal fires shows the importance of opportunity and what powerful voices can be found in the often overlooked North.
