War, something no one wants to be part of. Something that leaves horror in its wake. Yet little boys play army, men grow up and play guns at Airsoft and Paintball. Then there are those that re-enact. They pull on their period dress and spend their weekends living as those of their chosen era did.
Some call it living history, research through living, trying to gain an understanding of life as a wartime human, as close as possible without the war. Some don their uniforms to pay respect to ancestors that wore those same uniforms and marched into battle for the freedom and glory of their country. You can pick almost any period in history and there will be a group of people fascinated by it. They want to not only read and learn about those times but they want to live them.
It's an interesting and growing subculture that is as fascinating to learn about as it is to see.
